الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at`amani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah.
Meaning: All praise is for Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any power or strength from me.
Purpose: Ask Allah to grant the Prophet the praised station.
When to use: Read this after the adhan is completed.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ
Transliteration: Allahumma rabba hadhihid-da`watit-tammah, wassalatil-qa`imah, ati Muhammadanil-wasilata wal-fadilah, wab`athhu maqaman mahmudan alladhi wa`adtah.
Meaning: O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and established prayer, grant Muhammad the Wasilah and virtue, and raise him to the praised station You promised him.
Purpose: Thank Allah for giving life after sleep.
When to use: Read this after waking up from sleep.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba`da ma amatana wa ilayhin-nushur.
Meaning: All praise is for Allah who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.
Purpose: Renew faith after completing ablution.
When to use: Read this after completing wudu.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Transliteration: Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluh.
Meaning: I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
Purpose: Begin eating with Allah's name.
When to use: Read this before eating or drinking.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Transliteration: Bismillah.
Meaning: In the name of Allah.
Purpose: Sleep with trust in Allah.
When to use: Read this before sleeping at night.
بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
Transliteration: Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.
Meaning: In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Purpose: Thank Allah at the time of iftar.
When to use: Read this after breaking the fast.
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Transliteration: Dhahabaz-zama, wabtallatil-`uruq, wa thabatal-ajru in sha Allah.
Meaning: The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.
Purpose: Turn to Allah in distress and admit complete need of Him.
When to use: Read this during distress, hardship, or repentance.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Transliteration: La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.
Meaning: There is no deity except You; glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.
Purpose: Ask Allah to open the doors of His mercy.
When to use: Read this when entering a masjid.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Transliteration: Allahumma iftah li abwaba rahmatik.
Meaning: O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.
Purpose: Seek Allah's protection before entering the restroom.
When to use: Read this before entering the toilet or restroom.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a`udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khabaith.
Meaning: O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils.
Purpose: Seek ease during hardship.
When to use: Read this when feeling anxious, afraid, or overwhelmed.
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Transliteration: Hasbunallahu wa ni`mal-wakil.
Meaning: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.
Purpose: Ask Allah to expand the heart and make speech clear.
When to use: Read this before speaking, teaching, presenting, or difficult conversations.
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي، وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي، وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي، يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Transliteration: Rabbishrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul `uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli.
Meaning: My Lord, expand my chest, ease my task for me, and untie the knot from my tongue so they may understand my speech.
Purpose: Ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.
When to use: Read this when repenting and asking for Allah's mercy.
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Transliteration: Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin.
Meaning: Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.
Purpose: Ask Allah for comprehensive good and protection from Hellfire.
When to use: Read this often as a comprehensive Quranic dua.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina `adhaban-nar.
Meaning: Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Purpose: Ask Allah, the Lord of mankind, for cure.
When to use: Read this when visiting or praying for someone who is ill.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Transliteration: Allahumma rabban-nas, adh-hibil-ba`s, ishfi antash-shafi, la shifa`a illa shifa`uk, shifa`an la yughadiru saqama.
Meaning: O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness.
Purpose: Ask Allah to have mercy on your parents.
When to use: Read this when making dua for parents.
رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Transliteration: Rabbirhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira.
Meaning: My Lord, have mercy upon them as they raised me when I was small.
Purpose: Seek refuge from worry, grief, weakness, laziness, debt, and oppression.
When to use: Read this when burdened by sadness, anxiety, debt, or pressure.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a`udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-`ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa dala`id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.
Meaning: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, incapacity and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debt, and being overpowered by people.
Purpose: Ask Allah for more beneficial knowledge.
When to use: Read this when studying, learning, or seeking understanding.
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Transliteration: Rabbi zidni `ilma.
Meaning: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.
Purpose: Trust in Allah when leaving home.
When to use: Read this when leaving your home.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ
Transliteration: Bismillah, tawakkaltu `alallah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
Meaning: In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no power nor strength except with Allah.
Purpose: Ask Allah for His bounty when leaving the masjid.
When to use: Read this when leaving a masjid.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as`aluka min fadlik.
Meaning: O Allah, I ask You from Your bounty.
Purpose: Ask Allah for forgiveness after leaving the restroom.
When to use: Read this after leaving the toilet or restroom.
غُفْرَانَكَ
Transliteration: Ghufranak.
Meaning: I seek Your forgiveness.
Purpose: Seek protection in Allah's name from harm.
When to use: Read this three times in the morning and evening.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Transliteration: Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma`a ismihi shay`un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama`i wa huwas-sami`ul-`alim.
Meaning: In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Purpose: Remember Allah when riding or beginning travel.
When to use: Read this when beginning a journey or mounting transportation.
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration: Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun.
Meaning: Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, and we could not have otherwise subdued it. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
Purpose: Thank Allah for clothing and provision.
When to use: Read this when wearing a garment.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi kasani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghayri hawlin minni wa la quwwah.
Meaning: All praise is for Allah who clothed me with this and provided it for me without any power or strength from me.
Purpose: Ask Allah to make the rain beneficial.
When to use: Read this when rain begins or during rainfall.
اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا
Transliteration: Allahumma sayyiban nafi`a.
Meaning: O Allah, make it beneficial rain.
Purpose: Ask Allah for the good of the wind and seek refuge from its harm.
When to use: Read this when strong wind blows.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as`aluka khayraha, wa a`udhu bika min sharriha.
Meaning: O Allah, I ask You for its good, and I seek refuge in You from its evil.
